Goodbye Sunshine, Hello %@*&!

I love laying in bed when the fall sunshine is peeking through the windows. I'm sad to even think that it is on it's way out, and I am not looking forward to winter. It's cold outside, and it's my day off... At least I can use that as an excuse to just lay here. Truth is, I can barely cope just laying down these days. I'm nervous as my mystery symptoms that started in 2001 have returned. After 6 months of testing and experimenting, 5 different doctors, and a car acccident, there were never any answers but luckily everything just returned to normal. So, why is it back? I'm exhausted, I'm disoriented and I'm irritated. I just want to be well, and feel good. I don't want to go through this again...WTF!? I don't know what to do...

Happy Birthday Alex!

11 Years Old!

Lady Marmalade meets Madame Butterfly

Opening night at the opera with my hot bitch of a girlfriend!

Amy, a.k.a Tootsie, and I share a birthday. We were born on the same day, same year, a few hours and miles apart. We met when we were 18 years old working for Holiday Inn. We like to think we hung out while waiting to be born & made plans to meet as teenagers. For our birthday this year she took me to the opera. It was beautiful. I cried like a baby. I love my twin soul sister!

BodyWorlds3

Greg, Cacia & I went to see the BodyWorlds exhibit today at the Leonardo. It was absolutely amazing! It brought back lots of memories of anatomy lab and good study times Cacia and I had in massage school. (I adore her!) If you get a chance, and want to be fascinated by the amazing creature that you are, it is a must see!

Happy Birthday to ME!

So, it's the big 35. In case you aren't counting, that's only 5 away from 40. Whoa! I can't believe it. I'm definitely feeling the pressure...tick, tock, tick. Well, regardless of being a biological time bomb, I had a great birthday. Greg organized and planned a birthday party for me at Saints & Sinners. Friends and family came to hang out in the hookah lounge. Many beverages were consumed, stupid human tricks performed, and a good time was had by most everyone. It was fun. The next day, we took my favorite fall drive through the Alpine Loop to see all of the changing leaves. It was the prettiest I've ever seen it. Later we had my family birthday gathering at Matt's & Cacia's. I always look forward to our sunday night dinners. Greg organized for friends and family to pitch in & contribute toward my dream computer. I felt very blessed and special. I can't wait to get it!

(I've been trying to upload a slide show of pictures but I've been having trouble. I'll get them up as soon as I can.)

I suck at blogging...

Really? Not a single post in September? and only one in August? Seriously...what the hell do I do with all my time? I will never know... I have had events and pictures I wanted to post but why does it seem so hard?

Hummingbirds!

My friend lives in an amazing home in Emigration Canyon. Along her deck she has 5 large hummingbird feeders and she fills them at least twice a week. Each time I have been there, there has been FLOCKS of hummingbirds. I've never seen anything like it. Normally you are lucky to see just one, but to see 50 or more all at once is unbelievable. I've never had a chance to compare so many against another, and they are each so unique and different...such amazing colors! I sat right by a feeder and they buzzed all around me, it was so loud. They would stop and check me out a bit, but didn't care that I was there. My camera battery was dying and the light was fading, so it was hard to get any pictures that would do the experience justice, but here are some of the better ones.

Little Dipper!

Photobucket

So, we had a little buddy waiting at our doorstep when we got home (at 4am) from the Arts Festival Sunday morning. What a pleasant and joyful surprise. Of course we immediately took him in, fed him and took him to bed, determined to find his owner in the morning. (I knew Greg was loving him when he said "do you think we should just let him sleep on the bed.. I mean it is more comfortable up here...?") The little guy snuggled up in a pile of clothes next to the bed. It was the happiest thing to wake up to the next morning. Greg knocked on a few doors but was unlucky, and he decided to go skating.

It was hot and I had planned to spend my day lounging by the pool, but this seemed more important. I logged on to craigslist.com to see if anyone had reported a missing dog. No luck for me either. I posted a Found notice with my contact information and then decided to walk him around the property and also hang a few paper signs up. I hoped to run into someone who had heard or knew something. I carried him around in a purse like one of those crazy rich girls. I have to admit I really enjoyed it. Nothing significant seemed to happen. I went home and he curled up in my lap for a nap.

A few hours later I received a phone call from a male named Brenden stating he lost his dog and found my note. The whole call was weird. I did not have a good feeling about this guy...but he knew all the details. I had specifically not given any information online or in my signs, as I wanted someone to describe the sex, breed and markings. He was just too cute to let him get into the wrong hands. The gentleman asked if he could come tomorrow as he was at a family reunion. What? You lost your dog yesterday and you're not anxious to get him back? What kind of pet owner are you? Of course I would keep him another night, I would have kept him forever if the owner had never shown up...

Well, Brendan called me back an hour later. I almost didn't answer the phone, it felt wrong. He stated that his wife was pissed and he needed to pick the dog up now. Now that is more like it... Still, I felt completely uneasy. I didn't want to give the dog up. Things just didn't seem right. But what do you do? You have someone's dog and now someone shows up claiming to be the owner and has all the right information, you want to be trusting, even though the alarm is sounding in your head. I handed him over, but I felt sick about it. As he drove away, I notated the license plate of the creepy white Chester the Molester van.

That night at a family BBQ, I received another phone call. This time it was a guy named Jeff. "I found your ad on craigslist, I think you have my dog." He knew every detail down to the little white tip on his tail. My heart sank. I knew it all along. I shared my story, and I gave him the phone number of the man who had claimed to be the owner. I promised any assistance necessary. Jeff called me back after talking to him and relayed Brenden's bullshit story about he was with the Humane Society and was helping me out to find the owner. He said he could pick the dog up tomorrow. No! Go now!!!!

12:30pm the next day, Jeff calls. His roommate Dustin and true owner of the adorable Chihuahua had gone to pick up the dog and the guy claimed it must have escaped. Liar! I knew he had the dog. They would be pressing charges, with my help. I was so angry. My heart was breaking for the owner and for Little Dipper (that's just what we called him, his real name was Dimitri). Without thinking I sent a warning text message to the thief that the owners were calling the police and that I had his license plate and his phone number. Return the dog or else. Just then Greg said, "just promise me you won't text that guy." Too late. He called me a few minutes later stating the owners had picked up the dog that morning. I knew the truth and threw it in his face. He threatened and I threatened back, I will help them put you in jail. Theft by impersonation is a felony, not to mention it was a service animal. I hung up on him having the last word. A few minutes later I spoke with Dustin, I would help him file a police report that evening. I cried. He was so kind, and assured me that everything would work out.

What do you know... an hour later I got a call from Jeff stating they got the dog back! The thief suddenly magically turned up with the lost pet. I was so relieved. I don't know what I would have done if that hadn't happened. They are still planning on pressing charges and I will gladly assist. To think that someone who saw me hanging signs for someone's lost loved one, and then stole all the signs to disguise the information from the true owner, and would intentionally break people's hearts is unbelievable to me. I want to believe the world is better than this. Thank you Craigslist and the internet for the ability to reach beyond the tricks of someones bad deed.

Little Dipper is back where he belongs, but he is truly missed...

First Hike Of The Season

There is nothing that helps me more in life than spending time in nature. After a winter that seemed to go on endlessly it has started to warm up a little, which makes me a very happy girl. I've been looking forward to reclaiming the mountains as I am NOT a fan of snow or cold weather, and I finally got to take my first hike of the season. I used to spend time in Big Cottonwood Canyon on an almost daily basis. Those mountain peaks have gotten me through a lot of hard times and I missed them when I've been away. I took a small hike for a nice view, sat by the river.. whose deafening roar drowned out everything in my head, and then drove to the top of the mountain just so I could experience the whole canyon again. I am truly grateful for everything that mother nature has to offer. It was great to spend time again with the old friend I know so well.

My camera battery died soon after I started, so I ended up having to take pictures with my phone.. but they didn't turn out too bad.

Father's Day

Father's Day and another BBQ at the Greens. They have the best backyard ever. We had a pretty small turnout, but still a very good time. Camera happy as usual. Obviously I get a little sidetracked with the kids, okay, borderline obsessive. I just love 'em so much. So, I only got one picture of my Dad, sorry Dad. Cacia and I had a little adventure in the bushes to collect wood for a fire. I think I still have tree bits in my hair. It was one of the first nice days we've had this year, and I'm so thankful it is warming up. We sat by a fire next to the river and just enjoyed the evening. It was beautiful. A mosquito bit me on my eyelid right when I arrived. I'm super allergic to them, so now I look like someone punched me in the face. People will think Greg beats me.

Matt's Birthday!

We had a birthday BBQ at the Greens this Sunday to celebrate my brother Matt's (& Cacia's brother Judge's) Birthday. As always, great to hang with the Fam, and the extended Fam. Good times! Everybody pitched in for an iPhone for Matt. Yay, we can hardly wait for the 3G to come out! (Greg & I are gonna get one too.) Looking forward to to July 11th when it gets released. We love you Matt! (& Judge) and... We love technology. Suckers...

Erykah Badu 2008 Vortex Tour

We saw Erykah Badu in concert at the Depot tonight. Never in my life have I been so touched, moved and inspired by an artist. She is an incredibly powerful woman, and has such a strong presence and a beautiful essence about her. I was amazed to see how big her heart is, and how much love she has to give to the world, and there was no doubt that everyone at the show could feel it. The girl's got serious skills, amazing pipes, incredible energy, and sang like it was her only opportunity in this lifetime. Her performance moved me through tears, joy, awe and empowerment. It was such an honor to experience such a beautiful glimpse and honest expression of another human being and her very true soul.

Skate '08

Hung with the boys this weekend and watched them skate the newly renovated ramp at Tom's. It was like re-living the old days at the Rodgers house. We had a half pipe in my backyard growing up. My brother Ren was one of the greatest skaters I've ever known. I know if he had kept at it he would have definitely gone pro. The sound of the wheels on the wood ramp transports me to a time when our house was the life of the town and I spent all my time with my brothers. I was always a tom-boy, tough but girly. I broke my arm skateboarding as a teenager, so I'm too afraid to ride anymore. I still love all my skater boys!

Springs For A Day

It's Memorial Day Weekend! I got to spend quality time with some of my family. One of my favorite quick getaways is Lava Hot Springs in Idaho. I've been going there at least once a year for 15 years or so. It always promises a good time. We piled everybody into Matt & Cacia's car & went on our little adventure. This is the first time I have been and not visited the hot pools, but it was still awesome. The kids were so fun to watch! The Olympic swimming pool is now heated for your pleasure. It sports the super tall diving platforms for the brave and crazy. A new addition is two amazing water slides. What a riot! Matt & I went down them again and again. It made me feel like a kid again. One of them is pitch black inside. It is very disorienting! My last run I came flying out of the chute at the bottom...one leg hanging out and totally confused. I was so dizzy I couldn't walk straight and didn't even know if my swimsuit was still on. It was sure good for a laugh. It was great to hang out and get a little sun, even though the weather was threatening to rain on us all day. We ended up getting lucky and had a wonderful time, even being stuck in a traffic jam for 2 hours on the way home! I love these peeps!

Take me out to the ballgame...

Greg won tickets to a Bees game and I got to reap the benefits. I scheduled the night off from work and took my sweet nephew to the game. We had such a blast. I love my little Aiden.

Iron Bitch

Photobucket

Aiden turned 5 this week, I can hardly believe it. I got off work early to go to his party, but unfortunately I forgot my camera. My mom took this picture of me enjoying his birthday gift. I think it was just as fun for me as it could be for a kid. I will not hesitate to kick your ass!

Marius Turns 4

I love hanging out with my family. Birthdays are always a great excuse to get together, not that we need one, and we sure have a lot of them. Our little Marius is turning 4. We celebrated a little early because Jeff & Terri are taking the kids to Disneyland for his birthday. He is so cute. Every time he opened a present he liked he would yell "Hot Mama!" What a crack up!

Hello friends. I am new to the blogging thing, but I'm gonna give it a whirl. It may take me a little bit to figure it all out...but it looks fun! XOXO
